About Woodpecker Furniture
A Family Business Since 1975
Woodpecker Furniture was founded in 1975 by Joe, Mark and John Warren, and remains a family owned and operated business today, now in its third generation.
Based in Christchurch, the company has built a reputation for producing high quality furniture for New Zealand homes. Over the years, Woodpecker Furniture has continued to evolve its designs while maintaining a strong focus on durability, craftsmanship and locally made production.
With a team of around 20 people, all furniture is manufactured at the Christchurch factory, ensuring consistency, quality and attention to detail across every piece.
Woodpecker Furniture is available through selected New Zealand retailers, including Harvey Norman, as well as a small number of independent stores.
Made in Christchurch
All Woodpecker Furniture is manufactured in-house at the company’s Christchurch factory. By producing locally, the team maintains full control over materials, construction and finishing.
Each piece is made using carefully selected timbers and proven construction techniques, including strong joinery methods designed for long term durability. This hands-on approach ensures every item meets the standard Woodpecker Furniture has become known for.
Being New Zealand made is a core part of the business, supporting local manufacturing while producing furniture designed specifically for New Zealand homes and lifestyles.
Timber with History
Woodpecker Furniture works with both reclaimed New Zealand Rimu and solid American Ash across its collections.
The reclaimed Rimu used in many ranges is sourced from demolished buildings throughout New Zealand, often containing timber more than 100 years old. This gives each piece its own unique character, with natural grain variation and markings that reflect the history of the material.
Other collections are crafted from solid American Ash, a durable hardwood known for its strength and clean, contemporary appearance.
Many pieces can also be customised, with options for sizing, timber stains and finishes to suit individual spaces.
